Stillman's Haskins, Dillard's Gress earn Week 5 HBCUAC Softball Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - March 10, 2025 - Stillman College softball player Lauren Haskins garners Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Softball Player of the Week. Dillard University's Jennifer Gress takes home Pitcher of the Week. The ladies were recognized for their performances between March 3-9, the conference announced Monday.
Haskins batted .714, scored five runs and drove in four to help the Tigers claim the first two games against Talladega College on Saturday. Three of her five hits were triples, which gave her a 1.571 slugging percentage. On defense, Haskins made five putouts with six assists. She leads the conference with 16 stolen bases and ranks third with 13 RBI. This is Haskins' second weekly honor.
Gress only gave up two runs and struck out six in two victories over Oakwood University on Saturday and Sunday. She went the distance in both games. Gress ranks second in the HBCUAC with 34 strikeouts and third with a 3.80 earned-run average.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
