HBCUAC selects Week 10 Volleyball Players of the Week
NEW ORLEANS - October 21, 2024 - Taquoia Rounds of Talladega College (Ala.) wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Attacker of the Week, Trenity Pender of Dillard University (La.) takes home Defender of the Week and Trinity Britt of Fisk University (Tenn.) garners another Setter of the Week award for their performances between October 14-20, the conference announced on Monday.
Rounds averaged 3.25 kills per set, putting up 26 in three matches. She had a high of 11 in a sweep over Wiley University. Her performance helped Talladega to a 3-0 week and kept it in contention for the HBCUAC regular season title.
Helping Dillard to four conference wins, Pender totaled 48 digs, nine aces, 12 assists, and a notable three kills. She also had 10 digs, 1 kill and 3 aces against non-conference opponent William Carey on Oct. 14 giving 58 digs, 12 aces, 12 assists, and four kills for the week. Her performance keeps Dillard in the conversation for the 2024 HBCUAC regular season title.
Britt claimed her eighth Setter of the Week award. Britt had 80 assists in nine sets for the week. Against Tougaloo, she had a week-high of 32 assists. On defensive end, she had a total of 16 digs for the week. The Gainesville, Fla., native continues to lead the conference in total assists and assists per set. Her performance helped Fisk stay in contention for the HBCUAC regular season title.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Oakwood University (AL), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX). HBCUAC sponsors championships in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, women's volleyball, softball, and baseball. On July 1, 2024, the conference rebranded from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) to the HBCU Athletic Conference, marking a new era for the conference that embodies the makeup of its membership.
