SUNO's Herazo, Wiley's Guillory take Week 1 HBCUAC Baseball Awards
NEW ORLEANS - February 4, 2025 - Southern University at New Orleans baseball player Enrique Herazo Jr. claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Baseball Player of the Week. Wiley University pitcher Keyon Guillory garners Pitcher of the Week. The players were recognized for their performances between January 20 and February 2, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Herazo hit .583 in four games at Dillard University's HBCU Battle of Divisions Baseball Invitational. He went 4-for-5 with a run and three runs batted in against Morehouse College on Friday. Herazo went 2-for-4 with a run against Miles College on Saturday. He had a .667 slugging percentage. Herazo leads the HBCUAC in batting average and seven hits.
Guillory, the reigning conference pitcher of the year, continued where he left off, opening 2025 with two scoreless outings. In the second game against the University of Houston-Victoria on January 25, he held the talented Jaguars to one hit and struck out six in three innings out of the bullpen, which kept the Wildcats in striking distance. In Saturday's game against Texas College, he limited the Steers to an unearned run on five hits and struck out 10 to earn his first win. After two weeks, Guillory is tied for the HBCUAC lead with a 0.00 earned run average and leads with 16 strikeouts.
