Talladega's Oropeza, Wiley's Guillory secure Week 12 HBCUAC Baseball Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - April 22, 2025 - Talladega College first baseman Miguel Oropeza claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Wiley University pitcher Keyon Guillory claims Pitcher of the Week. The athletes were honored for their performances between April 14-20, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Oropeza hit 9-for-15 in four games last week, scoring 11 runs and bringing home 13 garnering his second weekly honor. Four of his nine hits went for extra bases with a double, a triple and two home runs. He posted a 1.200 slugging percentage for the week. Oropeza's performance helped Talladega sweep Philander Smith University and maintain its lead in the HBCUAC standings entering the final week of the regular season.
Guillory picked up his eighth win and his fifth complete game, earning his third weekly honor. He held a strong SUNO lineup to a run on two hits and struck out a career-high 14, which is tied for the most by a Wildcat pitcher since 2007. Guillory's performance helped seal a sweep and keep the Wildcats within a game of first in the HBCUAC. Guillory leads the HBCUAC and ranks in the top 25 of the NAIA with a 2.55 ERA.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
