Wilberforce's Spears, Wiley's Guillory claim Week 13 HBCUAC Baseball Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - April 29, 2025 - Wilberforce University's outfielder Beau Spears wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Baseball Player of the Week and Wiley University pitcher Keyon Guillory earns Pitcher of the Week. The athletes were honored for their performance between April 21-27, the conference announced Tuesday.
Spears went 7-for-11, scored six runs and drove in five to lead the Bulldogs to a sweep over Philander Smith University. He went 5-for-6 in the opener and hit two home runs to lead Wilberforce to a 15-5 victory. In the second game, He went 2-for-2, scored two runs and drove in two. His performance helped the Bulldogs clinch the final spot in the 2025 Hope Credit Union HBCUAC Baseball Championship.
Guillory recorded the most strikeouts by a Wildcat since before the 2007 season with 15. He retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced, striking out the side in the sixth inning. He picked up his ninth win and his sixth complete game. Guillory tied his teammate Jalen Porter for the HBCUAC lead in strikeouts with 97.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Oakwood University (AL), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX).
