SUNO, Fisk bring home Week 4 HBCUAC Men's Basketball Awards
NEW ORLEANS - November 18, 2025 - Southern University at New Orleans' forward Jamal Gibson wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. Aumad Hackett claims Freshman of the Week. Fisk University guard Simeon Williams garners Newcomer of the Week. The men were recognized for their performance between November 10-16, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Gibson provided a strong performance on both sides of the floor against quality competition. He scored a game-high 30 points against Xavier University of Louisiana and followed with a team-high 29 points against Loyola University. He shot 55 percent from the field and hit three 3-pointers. Gibson contributed seven assists and eight offensive rebounds. Defensively, he had 25 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Hackett was instrumental in running the offense. He averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. Hackett shot 6-for-13 from the field.
Williams recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 27 points and 14 rebounds against Wright State Lake Campus. He shot 60 percent from the field and dished out four assists. Nine of his rebounds were on defense which helped shut down Wright State.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
