Wiley, Philander Smith, SUNO, Stillman garner Week 14 HBCUAC Men's Basketball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - Wiley University guard Shamir Mosley wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Philander Smith University forward Raymond Reece claims Defensive Player of the Week. Jaylon Hicks earns Freshman of the Week. Stillman College's Dasean Sellers takes home Newcomer of the Week. The men were honored for their performance between January 26 and February 1, the conference announced on Monday.
Mosley averaged 23.5 points per game in two games last week. In Thursday's game at Southern University at New Orleans, he scored a career-high 28 points, hitting 10 shots, including five 3-pointers, which were also career highs. This was his fifth 20-plus scoring game of the season and eighth in his career. He followed that performance with 19 points on seven made field goals. For the week Mosley recorded eight assists. He moved up to fourth in the HBCU Athletic Conference with 16.6 points per game.
Reece grabbed 13 defensive rebounds, and seven steals in two games last week. In Thursday's game against Dillard, he grabbed 15 rebounds with six on defense and stole the ball three times. He followed with 14 rebounds, with seven on defense and recorded four steals against Southern University at New Orleans on Saturday. This is Reece's eighth weekly honor.
Hicks averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game, leading the Knights to two conference victories. Defensively, he added eight steals and three blocked shots. His 15 points, five rebounds, four steals and three blocks lead SUNO to their first home victory over Philander Smith since 2018. This is Hicks 11th weekly honor.
Sellers posted 15 points and four rebounds per game, helping the Tigers to three victories, with two in HBCUAC play. His top performance occurred in Saturday's game at Oakwood, where he put up 19 points and seven rebounds. For the week he shot 66.7 percent from the field, securing his third weekly honor.

About the HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Huston-Tillotson University (TX), Oakwood University (AL), Paul Quinn College (TX), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX).
