Wiley, Talladega earn Week 3 HBCUAC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - September 15, 2025 - Wiley University center attacking midfielder Anthony Ulloa wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Daniel Rojas claims Defensive Player of the Week. Kevin Nievas takes home Freshman of the Week. Talladega College goalkeeper Tariq Singh earns Newcomer of the Week. The men were recognized for their performances between September 8-14, the conference announced on Monday.
Ulloa, the HBCUAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, picks up his second weekly honor. He scored the game-tying goal against Red River Athletic Conference school Texas A&M University-Texarkana in the 51st minute on Saturday. The Wildcats tied the match, extending their unbeaten streak to three. Ulloa has two goals this season, which ties him for fourth in the conference.
Rojas made his first start at goalkeeper. He stopped four of five shots in 38 minutes played. His play helped keep the match close. Rojas played in three matches last season and made saves on 12 of 16 shot attempts.
Nievas took over in the net in the final three minutes of the first half. He made a save early in the second half that kept the margin at one. His play helped the Wildcats to their best start to a season since 2017. This is his fourth weekly honor.
Singh faced a lot of traffic at the net against NCAA Division III school Sewanee The University of the South. He faced 26 shots with 14 on goal - and made saves on eight. He ranks second in the conference with 19 saves.
