Talladega's Chambers, Stillman's Johnson claim Week 3 HBCUAC Men's Track and Field Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - March 25, 2025 - Talladega College's Jaedon Chambers wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Stillman College's Christopher Johnson garners Field Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week. The athletes were recognized for their performances between March 17-23.
Chambers won the 200-meter dash at the Alan Connie Invitational on Saturday, topping a 100-man field, featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association athletes, in 21.75. His time was 0.54 seconds shy of the 'B' qualifying standard for the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
Johnson showed his might in the discus once again with a first place finish after a throw of 50.78 meters.. The reigning NAIA Field Athlete of the Week qualified for NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championship last week, but his distance during the Belhaven Invitational was over the NAIA "B" standard. Johnson posted a throw of 13.86m in the shot put.
