Voorhees men capture HBCUAC Track and Field Championship in First Season
SHREVEPORT, La. - April 12, 2025 - The Voorhees University men's track and field team claimed the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Track and Field Championship in convincing fashion after joining the conference in July.
Traveling over 800 miles, the Tigers made the long journey worth it. They scored 217 points with Talladega College finishing runner-up with 160. Dillard University, which won the previous four titles finished third with 116 points.
Markel Myles of Dillard University won 2025 HBCUAC Most Valuable Track Athlete. He won the 400-meter hurdles, 800-meter run and ran a leg on the winning 4 x 400-meter relay team. Christopher Johnson of Stillman College took home the 2025 HBCUAC Most Valuable Field Athlete. He won the shot put and discus and placed in the hammer throw. Talladega Assistant Coach Tre Adderley was named 2025 HBCUAC Assistant Coach of the Year. Voorhees University head coach Jeffrey Hughes won 2025 HBCUAC Coach of the Year.
