Dillard's Myles, Stillman's Johnson capture Final 2025 HBCUAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Awards
NEW ORLEANS - April 29, 2025 - Dillard University's Markel Myles takes home Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Stillman College's Christopher Johnson garners Field Athlete of the Week. The men were recognized for their performances between April 21-27, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Myles competed in the 400-meter hurdles at the iconic Penn Relays. He finished 13th out of 35 competitors, mostly from National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I schools. His time of 52.24 surpassed the 'A' qualifying standard and ranks sixth in the NAIA.
Johnson won two events at the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational. His throw of 49.23 meters in the discus was more than five meters better than the runner-up. He threw 14.46 meters which was one meter further than his NCAA competitors.
Myles and Johnson will both be competing at the 2025 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship, May 21-23 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
