Stillman's Bubel, Oakwood's Arnett earn Week 3 HBCUAC Softball Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - February 25, 2025 - Stillman College third baseman Madison Bubel claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Softball Player of the Week. Oakwood University pitcher Sydney Arnett garners Pitcher of the Week. The athletes were recognized for their performances between February 17-23, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Bubel hit .667 in four games with two doubles, and six RBI to lead Stillman to a sweep over Central Baptist College and a victory over United States Sports Academy. She tallied multiple hits in three games. On defense, she contributed 12 assists and made a putout in 14 attempts. She ranks eighth in the HBCUAC with eight RBI and is second with 35 assists.
Arnett threw a complete game against Faulkner University on February 18. She limited the Eagles to three unearned runs on six hits and struck out five which kept the Ambassadors in the game. Arnett ranks ninth in the conference in strikeouts and fifth with 5.83 strikeouts per seven innings.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
