Voorhees University's Towner, Hickson earn Week 9 HBCUAC Softball Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - April 7, 2025 - Voorhees University's TeYana Towner wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Softball Player of the Week and Ta'Nia Hickson claims Pitcher of the Week. The athletes were recognized for their performance between March 31 and April 6, the conference announced on Monday.
Towner recorded four hits, three runs and two runs batted in during the three-game series against Talladega College. She tallied two hits and two runs to led the Tigers to a 10-9 victory in Game 2. In the finale, she hit a double and a home run. Towner posted a .889 slugging percentage. She was perfect from the field with 12 putouts and five assists.
Hickson threw two complete games against Talladega. She picked up the win in the second game and struck out two batters. In the finale, she only allowed one earned run and struck out one.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
