Stillman, Dillard, Oakwood win HBCUAC WBB Week 14 awards
NEW ORLEANS - February 3, 2025 - Stillman College women's basketball player Jaida Minter garners Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week. Dillard University's Cassidy Lowe takes home Defensive Player of the Week. Oakwood University's Saniya Keys earns Freshman of the Week. The athletes were recognized for their performances between January 27 and February 2, the conference announced Monday.
Minter wins her second weekly honor after averaging 24.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. She shot 65.1 percent from the field and 71.4 from 3-point territory. Her performance led the Tigers to three victories and helped them maintain their lead in the HBCUAC standings. Minter leads the HBCUAC with a 42.9 three-point field goal percentage.
Lowe wins her first weekly award. She tallied 11.5 rebounds with nine on the defensive end, 4.5 blocks and 1.8 steals per game. Lowe had double-digit rebound performances against University of Mobile on Monday and University of the Virgin Islands on Sunday. She had five or more blocks in all three conference games. Lowe ranks third in the conference with 10.6 rebounds per game.
Keys takes her 14th weekly honor after posting 20.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. She recorded double-doubles against Wilberforce University on Thursday and Talladega College on Friday. Keys scored 27 points in Thursday's game and 26 on Saturday. Keys continues to lead the HBCUAC with 18.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Oakwood University (AL), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX). HBCUAC sponsors championships in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, women's volleyball, softball, and baseball. On July 1, 2024, the conference rebranded from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) to the HBCU Athletic Conference, marking a new era for the conference that embodies the makeup of its membership.
