Talladega women take 2025 HBCUAC Soccer Championship
SHREVEPORT, La. - Talladega College women's soccer scored two first half goals and an insurance goal in the second half to defeat Huston-Tillotson University 3-1 in the 2025 Historically Black Colleges Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) championship match hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Friday at Lee Hedges Stadium.
Annalisa Vincent, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) leading scorer, netted her 34th goal of the season off a pass from Amelia Tiggs in the 12th minute. Less than 20 seconds later, Shamya Daniels scored off a pass from Vincent to increase the lead to two.
The Rams closed the gap in the 41st minute when Nathalia Herreros kicked in a pass from Angela Zambrano. The score held up until the 73rd minute when Daniels scored her second goal of the match to extend the lead. Alyssa Johnson stopped five of six shots.
Huston-Tillotson finishes the season 7-7-1. Kayla Evans put up five shots. Goalkeepers Citlaly Vences and Juliet Morales-Martinez each made a save.
Vincent, who scored three goals in the tournament was named 2025 HBCUAC Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player. Talladega will find out their site and opponent for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round during the NAIA Selection Show on November 14 at 6 p.m. on the NAIA YouTube Channel.
