Voorhees University's Brown, Fisk's Bownes take home Week 4 HBCUAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - April 1, 2025 - Voorhees University track and field athlete Jakayla Brown claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Fisk University's Jackie Bownes garners Field Athlete of the Week. The women were honored for their performances between March 24-30, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Brown competed in the 100-meter hurdles at the Morehouse Relays on Saturday. She finished in 19.98, mostly competing against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I schools.
Bownes, the two-time defending conference champion, finished runner-up in the discus at the Morehouse Relays with a distance of 31.18 meters. She mostly competed against NCAA Division I athletes and was one of two that eclipsed 30 meters.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
