Fisk’s Jones, Britt and Stillman’s Powell wins HBCUAC Week 4 Volleyball Awards
NEW ORLEANS - September 9, 2024 - Fisk University volleyball player Trinity Britt wins her fourth consecutive Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Setter of the Week award, Reagan Jones wins her third HBCUAC Attacker of the Week, and Stillman College's Emily Powell wins Defender of the Week for matches from September 2-8, the conference announced on Monday.
Britt is coming off another successful week running the Lady Bulldog offense. The sophomore from Gainesville, Florida, recorded double-digit assists in both wins this week with a high of 37 against Brescia University and 29 against Stillman College. She leads the conference in overall assists and is ranked twelfth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in the same category.
Jones had a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs in an HBCUAC sweep over Stillman College, swinging at a .500 clip. The sophomore from Franklin, Tennessee, followed with a 12-kill effort in a straight-set win over Brescia University. Jones is currently leading the HBCUAC in overall kills and fifth in the NAIA.
Powell was consistent all week, with 5.43 digs per set. She led Stillman with 31 digs on the road at NCAA Division II Tuskegee University and then collected 15 digs in her last three matches of the week. She also had a.943 reception percentage while delivering three service aces on offense.
