Talladega Duo, Fisk's Britt win Week 9 HBCUAC Volleyball Honors

NEW ORLEANS - October 14, 2024 - Talladega College's Re'na Ashley claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Attacker of the Week, Briyith Echeverri of Talladega College garners HBCUAC Defender of the Week and Fisk University's Trinity Britt brings home her seventh HBCUAC Setter of the Week award for their performances between October 7-13, the conference announced on Monday.

Ashley earns her first award after recording 32 kills in three matches last week. She recorded double-digit kills with 10 against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III school Miles College and 14 against HBCUAC school Oakwood University. Ashley's effort helped Talladega take two out of three matches.

Echeverri wins her third Defender of the Week award. She posted 55 digs for an average of five per set. In two matches, Echeverri recorded 20 or more digs with a high of 28 against William Carey University on Wednesday. She ranks second in the HBCUAC with 327 digs.

Britt averaged 6.85 assists per set and recorded two double-doubles to help Fisk win three of four matches. She notched a career-high 50 assists in an upset win over the University of Northwestern Ohio. Britt's performance helped the Lady Bulldogs improve to 10-0 in HBCUAC play.
