Dillard pair, Paul Quinn, Huston-Tillotson, Fisk claim Week 10 Volleyball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - October 20, 2025 - Dillard University outside hitter Makaela Swoopes wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Attacker of the Week. Nanyelis Sosa Moreno garners Setter of the Week. Paul Quinn College libero Ashley Sanchez comes away with Defender of the Week. Huston-Tillotson University setter Jordis Taylor takes Freshman of the Week. Fisk University outside hitter Shelby Chamblin earns Newcomer of the Week. The women were honored for their performance between October 13-19, the conference announced on Monday.
Swoopes recorded two double-digit kill performances to lead the Bleu Devils to two HBCUAC victories. Against Paul Quinn College on Friday, she tallied 20 kills and hit .500 in the match. She followed with 15 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to help Dillard regain the lead in the HBCUAC West with a four-set victory over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday. For the week she had 38 kills.
Sanchez averaged 4.60 digs per set, helping Paul Quinn to two wins in three matches. She put up 20 digs in a four-set victory over Texas College on Wednesday. Following an 11-dig performance at Dillard on Friday, Sanchez posted 15 digs in a sweep over Southern University at New Orleans on Saturday.
Sosa-Moreno posted 28 assists and eight digs in a sweep over Paul Quinn College on Friday. She recorded a double-double of 47 assists and 11 digs in a four-set victory over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday. For the week she recorded 87 assists with an average of 7.91 per set. This is Sosa-Moreno's second honor.
Taylor recorded a triple-double with 11 kills, 19 assists and 11 digs in Friday's victory at Southern University at New Orleans. For the week she tallied 43 assists for an average of 4.78 per set. Taylor hit .316 on 38 attempts. This is Taylor's third weekly honor
Chamblin recorded 31 kills with 21 coming in HBCUAC victories over Talladega College and Stillman College. She recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs which helped the Lady Bulldogs clinch the East Division with a sweep over Talladega College on Saturday. Chamblin recorded 10 kills against Cumberland University which is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll. This is Chamblin's ninth weekly honor.

About the HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
